About the Author

Dr. Patric Leedom has spent the majority of his life serving others. First in the field of Education, and then in the Military. In 1970 Patric was a founding staff member of a private Montessori Elementary school [That has recent- ly celebrated its 50th anniversary.] In 1976, having earned a Masters Degree in Montessori Philosophy and Methods, Patric became a founding staff member of the Cincinnati Public Schools launch into a Montessori Pro- gram.

In 1985 Patric began a doctorate in Education: Curriculum and Instruction including a strong strand in Corporate Training. Patric was the Training Consultant in assisting the U.S. Shoe Corporation to implement the Japanese Team Model of manufacturing. Upon graduation with his doctorate, Patric was hired by Shawnee State Universi- ty as a professor of Teacher Candidates. He stayed for 25 years.

MILITARY

In 1962, Patric enlisted in the U.S. Navy Submarine Reserves, and stayed for 24 years. He chose the occupation of Quartermaster (helping to navigate the ship on its desired course, etc.) In 1972 Patric-now an E7 Chief Quar- termaster, was invited onto the COMSUBLANT STAFF (The Admiral who had command of all the submarines in the U.S. Atlantic Fleet). Patric was kept on the staff for 11 years “because he never sat still: whenever he had extra time, he went around the office to see who might need extra help.” Three years later the Staff helped Patric to get promoted to E8 Senior Chief Quartermaster, and three years after that, to E9 Master Chief Quarter- master. After retirement in 1986, Patric became active in the United States Submarine Veterans Incorporated, as well as the American Legion, and other veterans’ organizations. In the past Dr. Leedom has provided presen- tations on the History of Veterans Day, primarily to school districts, and presentations on the History of Memorial Day to Veterans Groups. Dr. Leedom is active with the Legion’s BUCKEYE BOYS STATE to help high school seniors learn about the duties and responsibilities as a citizen of our country.
